Jetboil MiniMo

📦

Jetboil Flash (comparison)

The Jetboil MiniMo was designed to fix the Flash's two biggest limitations: it has a wider, lower pot that's actually useful for cooking, and genuine simmer control. We tested it head-to-head against the Flash on a 5-day trip through the Cascades.

💡 Quick verdict

The MiniMo is the best Jetboil for actual cooking. It's worth the extra $30 over the Flash if you plan to do anything beyond boiling water. If you only need speed and efficiency, the Flash is still king.

Cooking performance

The MiniMo's wider, lower profile cup changes what's possible at camp. Scrambled eggs stay in the pan instead of sliding to a narrow point. Sautéed vegetables actually cook evenly. The simmer dial lets you hold a gentle bubble for rice or a steady warmth for hot chocolate without scorching. We cooked full meals on three consecutive nights of testing — things we'd never attempt with the Flash.

Boil performance

The MiniMo boils 500mL in around 2 minutes — about 20 seconds slower than the Flash. In practice, you'll never notice. Fuel efficiency is essentially identical (around 11–12L per 100g of fuel). The slower boil is entirely due to the wider cup sacrificing some of the FluxRing's concentrated heat efficiency.

Pros
  • Wide low pot enables real cooking — eggs, stir-fry, rice
  • Simmer control is genuine and precise
  • Same FluxRing fuel efficiency as the Flash
  • Color-change boil indicator included
  • Auto-igniter works reliably
Cons
  • 1.5 oz heavier than the Flash
  • $30 more expensive than the Flash
  • Still no compatible frying pan accessory
  • Slightly slower boil than Flash

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get the MiniMo or the Flash?

Get the MiniMo if you want to cook real meals — the simmer control and wider pot make a real difference. Get the Flash if you primarily boil water for freeze-dried meals and want the fastest boil time possible.

Is the MiniMo compatible with Jetboil accessories?

Yes — the MiniMo uses the standard Jetboil cup mount and is compatible with Jetboil's hanging kit and other accessories. The wider cup also works with Jetboil's skillet accessory.

Verdict

The MiniMo earns its $30 premium over the Flash for any camper who wants to cook actual food. The simmer control alone is worth it. See how it compares in our full Jetboil Flash vs MiniMo comparison.
